5 STEPS to take care of Colored/Damaged Hair

By Unknown - 22.48

To all my gorgeous friends out there!

The year of the rooster is here! I cannot believe how fast time is flying by! Finally had the time to sit down and write to you while reminiscing all the food I had yesterday during Chinese New Year. YUMM!

If you haven’t noticed, I got my hair done a couple of weeks ago. It is a Chinese tradition to cut our hair before Chinese New Year to let go of any misfortunes from the previous year. Even though I had colored my hair in the past, this is my first time getting bleached hair! I was worried that my hair would be extra dry due to the chemicals hence I asked tons of questions to the hair stylist as well as my sister who have more experience in taking care of funky colored hair (she currently have blue hair! check out her instagram here).

After a couple of weeks, I summed up these steps to take care of colored/damaged hair for you guys! Some of these products I have used even with my naturally black hair while some are new favs. Nonetheless, here's my top 5 holy grail products for my hair!

Products:
1. Shiseido "The Hair Care Aqua Intensive" mask
2. Furatasse Scalp Essence Tonic
3. Biba Volumising Spray
4. Elujuda Dessee's Hair Treatment - for natural color design
5. Tresemme Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Spray

FYI, I have naturally oily scalp and super straight hair.

1    1st step : Shiseido “The Hair Care Aqua Intensive” Mask

When I have my natural hair, I rarely use any conditioner just because it tends to weigh down my already super straight hair. On my first shampoo experience after the appointment, I did my normal natural hair routine: shampoo only. I was curious and secretly hoping that my hair will adjust its natural oils by itself so I don’t have to do any extra steps. AND….. of course I was wrong L

The next time I shampooed, I used this Shiseido mask after washing my hair and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. I know that it’s a tedious job but the result is worth it! My hair never felt soooo soft and the best thing is, it doesn’t weigh down my hair even if it smooths it out. My hair was shiny and bouncy.

I would recommend using this product once a week for mildly damaged hair but for those of you who regularly color your hair (like my sis), she uses this product every time she shampooed her hair, which is once every two days. She literally have such brittle and crispy hair right after the treatment but after two weeks of using this product, I can see that her hair is much more flexible and shiny~ Holy grail product of all time!

2     2nd step: Furatasse Scalp Essence Tonic

Now this is the product that I have been using religiously over the past 6 months. I have heard people raving about this and I first got introduced to it by my sis (oh what can I do without her?). You need this product if you want healthier scalp which leads to a significant reduction of hair loss. Even though I’m not balding, but I pay extra attention to hair loss since I don’t really have much volume to start with. This product keeps my oil at bay and I can literally see new baby hair growing all around my hair and reduced number of clogged hair in the drain (YES).

I use this product on my wet hair by spraying it directly on my scalp all around my head. It provides a cooling and minty effect when applied which leaves a fresh, clean feeling on the scalp. This product is raved for a clear reason.

3   3rd step : Biba Volumising Spray

I first discovered this back in Melbourne and it was actually sold in a male barber shop! But hey, if it works, it works! I use this if I’m feeling fancy and wanting to curl my hair for the day. This product just lifts up the roots of my hair by 1-2cm. No kidding. This product has an herbal scent which is a plus for me. I spray this all over my scalp after the Furatasse Scalp Essence Tonic and blow dry per usual. Simple, easy, and it does the job.

4      4th step : Elujuda Deesee’s Hair Treatment – for natural color design (hair oil essence)

I bought this product at the hair salon that I went to as it was displayed and recommended by the hair stylist. This essence smells so good and it hydrates my hair without weighing it down. Before using this essence, I was using the Faceshop hair essence since it was recommended by my mom, but honestly, the smell reminded me of a swimming pool and I don’t think it does anything special with my hair. But this product, I can see and feel how my hair is thanking me by switching to this product. This combined with the shiseido mask: shiny, bouncy, super smooth hair all day long. I use this on a semi dried / towel dried hair and applied it on the half end of my hair.

5.      5th step : Tresemme Keratin Smooth Flat Iron Spray

This is the final step of my hair routine before blow drying and styling my hair. I always spritz on the Keratin smooth flat iron spray as a heat protectant to the hot blow dry air and curling irons. Even though I tried to keep the temperature low, but having this extra layer of protection doesn’t hurt anyone, plus it smells really good too ;) I don’t particularly see any difference between heat protectant sprays so I don’t recommend this brand exclusively, but do use one to create another layer of protection before styling your hair.

5 simple steps to a healthy hair, DONE!
I hope these products can help you to master the good-hair-day-everyday lifestyle! Don’t start taking care of your hair when it’s too late :)

From yours truly,

Nindia Djie
